I <3 your babies!! Fur and feather!! I recently kept my chix cooped up for a week because of extreme cold here (I am sure it is much chillier where you are - we are all wimps here!). I kept them entertained with several different things. One plaything was a hanging cabbage (lasted entire week!). WHich reminds me.. I must blog this, or something.. soon! My chickens despise the snow, and will hop from one thing to another to avoid it - spool table to chair to waterer to feeder, etc.
Our ice and snow is finally melting and the chickens have come out. Guess now the hens will have muddy feet. No wonder we all get so excited about spring and the end of winter. Won't a warm summer day feel good!

ReplyDeleteTammy, I like the cabbage idea. Saw a recipe for homemade suet for chickens. I put out some store-bought and they were rather uninterested.

ReplyDeleteWe're melting but only the snow layer atop the ice which means the ice is now fully exposed. Had to bring the cleats out. Arrrgghh.
