I've been absent from the donkey blog, in part, because my mind has been obsessively focused on the big boy of the family, my horse Natural.
My sweet sweet boy, who's 30 years old, and has been with me for 24 of them, is feeling his age, and not doing well. I'm constantly mentally reassessing what my options are and trying to second guess decisions. I know, not good. I just wrote to a friend that some small part of me irrationally believed he'd live forever.
Oh dear, I'm tearing up. Must go.
Please send him your good thoughts.
I haven't commented before, but I am sending good thoughts for both of you. This is the hardest part of good stewardship that most of us have experienced . What a lovely name: Natural. I'll be following.
ReplyDeleteYour kind words do me good -- thanks.
DeleteSending lots of love and hugs from MO - thinking good thoughts for both of you ♥ xoxo --Tammy
ReplyDeleteMy distant friend, thanks for your hugs and kisses. I'll pass them on to the boy.
DeleteI am so sorry. I will be thinking of you and Natural, sending good wishes for both of you.
ReplyDeleteMy blog friend, I appreciate your good wishes. Send 'em strong.
DeleteJanet, all of us who have had beloved animal friends had/ have those "irrational" thoughts that they would live forever. My heart is with you. Good thoughts and hugs all around. Linda
ReplyDeleteOh my. Hugs and support from one who is facing this with my 35 year old Arabian stallion, one of the last living Bey Shah sons. It will be up and down (literally - in my guy's case for about two weeks he started having a struggle getting up from rolling or lying down). Yet each time he rallied and with the warm weather he seems to have decided "just one more summer, mom!". Just count every minute as precious and make your decisions about ... logistics ... before the last minute. Decisions and arrangements ahead of time is a good thing to do.
ReplyDeleteYes, I know what you mean. Each visit is now more special than before.
DeleteOh Janet, I've been away too. Sure hope Natural is doing better. 24 years is a long time. He has had a good loving home with you. Will be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteHe remains in my prayers, buddy.
ReplyDeleteBev, you're a good friend.
